January 10, 2011 Another quiet day

Monday, the day dreaded by working America, came and is leaving with nothing out of the ordinary.  I did some ho hum house chores this morning and then Joyce, the Home Health Aid from Hospice, came and gave Mom her bath and such.  She said Mom was agreeable to the whole deal.  After the aid left Elsie the private aid came and stayed with Mom until I returned at 3:20pm.  She is such a low key lady and Mom is always relaxed when I come home.  I took Nova with me today and she was better than she was the other day.  I did bribe her with the promise of a hamburger and a few fries.  I fulfilled my promise to her, and then can you believe it, she wanted a bone.  I guess you could say she is spoiled because I got her one.  Mom ate lunch and even drank her tea and then again ate a small dinner and drank some Ensure.  She was very happy to just wander about and move things and look at some country magazines.  She is doing that alot lately.  No real antics or insightful thoughts today just a quiet restful day.  I was thinking tonight how very blessed I am to not be doing this alone.  Everyday I hear from Dolly or one or all of my girls.  I know everyone is praying for Mom and I or just thinking about us.  I can feel it.  I appreciate it all so much.   I was thinking what a great family and circle of friends we have.  Blessed I tell you, blessed!  Heather your "Honoring Martha" was very touching.  I loved our life growing up.  We always felt safe and protected.  We were poor by the world's standards but, we never really knew it.  We had a nice house, never had the electricity turned off, never went hungry or woke up with no heat. We always knew we were loved, even without the words, and had two parents who worked together to make our family work.  That is really saying something, not all families can experience what my sisters and I did.  This was made possible, in a very large part, because of Mom. Well, off to finish up for the night and lock down the house-gotta take care of Queen Martha (that is what I have dubbed Mom's chair at the table-the Queen Martha Chair).  Good night to all and talk with you all tomorrow night.

I love uneventful days ,don't you? Thank you so much, Stacie for hiring a sitter for Grandma - I love the thought of your Mom being able to get off by herself and re-group. You girls, all 3, are wonderful daughters (and nieces). Thanks to you all. Kiss Mama and tell her I'll see her Wed. Ilove you, Dolly
